Deficiency of Magnesium can cause anxiety, depression, addictions, muscle cramps, cold hands and feet, fatigue, confusion, insomnia, inflammation, premenstrual tension, heart problems and many other health issues.

Magnesium is such an important mineral and is required by the body in many of the functions that keep us running optimally. A sign of magnesium deficiency is the craving of salt, sweets, licorice and chocolate.

Unfortunately our cravings do not always serve our best interest and often deplete us of magnesium even more. The good news is that with adequate magnesium levels the cravings for the bad foods can decrease and more energy and vitality can be experienced.

Foods that contain Magnesium

Foods high in magnesium include almonds, cashews, cacao (found in health food shops), avocado, beans, lentils, figs, molasses, banana, whole grains, kelp, seeds and eggs.

Including these magnesium rich foods into your daily diet with a balanced diet, adequate hydration - at least 2 litres of water a day, moderate exercise throughout the week and some time out for yourself may reduce stress, anxiety and many of the symptoms mentioned above dramatically.
